Fact: there are some news about ubisoft opening some key development jobs to create a triple AAA game in the might & magic universe. The exact words were "reinvent" the franchise. My take: i believe they are going for Heroes 8, but in a very different formula.

The mobile games doing well is literally the only strand of hope for heroes VIII. Id say the odds for it being currently in development are close to zero, but they might rise if the mobile games continue making bank. There is a little hope in the general resurgence in turn based strategy games and the incoming shift to publisher subscription.

There were certainly many humorous touches in the graphic design, animations and sound design in the game yes. Some, like this one, referenced humorous tropes, in this case Bela Lugosi's famous Dracula. Overall the feeling of the game was more serious and "darker" than in Heroes of Might and Magic 1.
